My Favorite Character

After finishing the book Of Mice and Men, I think my favorite character has to be Lennie. Lennie is my favorite character because he never gave up on his dream of becoming something more than all of the other workers were. The other workers had a dream but in the end, they gave up on it because they thought that it would never happen. Even though Lennie did some bad things and killed people he is a really good person. I don’t like him for hurting people but in the end, it’s not his fault. George was really set on his dream with Lennie but towards the end of the book George totally gave up on his dream and decided to save up money to go to the whorehouse each week. I really believed in Lennie and wanted him to have the ranch he always wanted because he never gave up on it and anything was possible for him and that made me like him a lot. Even though he died, he still remains my favorite character. I can totally understand why George shot and killed him but it’s just really sad. Lennie was my favorite character because he was always nice to anyone he met, he always gave people chances, he was a hard worker, and he never gave up on his dream.

Euthanasia

Euthanasia is when you kill someone who is in dire pain and the doctor, the patient, or close people close to the patient. It’s illegal in most countries so I have mixed feelings on it. I feel like in some situations it should be allowed. But it shouldn’t be up to the doctor or family/ friends of the patient. If the patient is in a coma then I don’t think it should ever be put to death because there have been a lot of situations when the patient has woken up from a coma and been perfectly fine. It is a really tough situation because I think you should decide your death but you shouldn’t just let someone die just because they want to. You should only willingly kill someone if they are in extreme pain and close to death. I’m not really sure what to think about euthanasia because I don’t think anyone should die just because they are depressed or they see no need in life anymore. I think its necessary if they know death is coming and the days they are alive they would witness bad pain. In other cases, when they say you have ___ many days to live then you should live out your life and do the things you always wanted to do. I’m not really sure about my thoughts on it but I can understand why it is illegal in most countries.

Dreams

Dreams fail sometimes because people don’t try their hardest to make the dream happen. If you have a dream in your head you will do anything to make it happen. Sometimes people give up on their dream because they think they could never make it happen because they are too dumb, don’t have enough money, or it would just never happen. You need to believe in yourself and make sure you succeed in life in order to have the dream you always wanted. In Of Mice and Men, Lennie and George have a dream to have their own ranch house. They are working so they can save up the money they earn from the job in order to make their dream happen. George is a really good person because he takes care of Lennie and helps him because George knows that everyone has a dream and even people who are handicapped have dreams as well. I really hope that Lennie and George will fulfill their dream and have a happy life because they work hard at what they do. My dream in life is to be happy and have a good life in the future. I will work hard to make my dream come true.

Safe place

It’s important to have somewhere where you belong because you need to feel like you are safe and people care for you. If you don’t have people that love you and you are alone then your life is pretty sad and you would probably get depressed. If you are somewhere where people don’t like you then you feel like nobody cares for you. If I was someone that wasn’t loved than I would probably commit suicide because I would feel like there was no purpose for me in life. It would be hard to live because you wouldn’t have people supporting you and helping you through hard times. If Lennie didn’t have George than he would probably be in a lot of trouble because George is the person who helps him when he is falling down. Its important for people to have other people that care for them and are there for them. Friends are really important and being in somewhere where you belong and where people care for you is good.

Friends

Friends are really important; I don’t think I could survive without all of my friends. My best friend is always there for me and she is a really important aspect of my life. My friends always bring me up when I’m feeling down and they make school so much better. I think in order to be a good friend you have to be loyal, kind, yourself, and always there for your friend. Friends are really important because they can make your day so much better. All my friends are really important to me, they are there for me whenever I have any troubles and I can always count on them. I feel like if I can’t trust someone then it’s really hard to be their friend because I need to have trust in my friends. My best friend is someone who has all the best qualities in a friend because I can tell her anything and she would never tell anyone, she is nice, she relates to me in a lot of ways. Without my group of friends I don’t know what I would do.

True friend

“A True friend will tell you the truth, even when you don’t want to hear it”
I think this statement is true. But I also think if a friend asked me if she looked fat in something I wouldn’t tell her she looked fat. I think that’s mean. I might tell her that it doesn’t look good but not that she looks fat. I would always want my friend to be honest with me because honesty is the best policy. If a friend isn’t honest to you then that can cause a lot of problems with your friendship. A real friend would always tell me the truth and never lie to me. I would always want to have trust in my friends.

Romeo & Juliet Questions

Would you have lied to your whole family if you were in Juliet’s position? Why or why not?
I don’t know if I would lie to my family for the one I love. I think family is the most important thing in my life but if I was in a position like Juliet was, I might have done what she did. Her family didn’t care about her feelings and who she loved, they wanted her to be in a wealthy family and all they cared about was how others would think about her. If I was forced to marry someone I didn’t love then I might have lied to my family and try to be with the one I really love. But in the end, I think my family would forgive me for lying and know I did everything for the best.


Do you think Juliet should have faked her death? Why or why not?
I don’t think Juliet should have faked her death, two other people died because of her actions. I think she should have done something else to run away from her marriage than faking her death. Romeo never got the message that she was still alive, so he killed himself. Paris got in a fight with Romeo and Romeo killed Paris all over the death of Juliet. I don’t know what she should have done but faking her death was not the smartest thing.


Was it right for Romeo and Juliet to kill themselves because of their love for each other? Why or why not?
I don’t think it was right for Romeo and Juliet to kill themselves. I think they were too young to take their lives for the ones they think they love. I think it was all a bit too dramatic because they had just met each other a week or so ago. I think if the would have waited longer and actually were together than I don’t think they would be together forever and always be in love. I think it was really foolish for Juliet to pretend her death and stupid for Romeo to kill himself for Juliet.
